Sue Lenier came to prominence in the 1980s while a student at Clare College, Cambridge, when her two collections of poems, Rain Following  and Swansongs became instant global best-sellers.

Since then Sue has written a number of plays, including A Fool and His Heart (BBC Radio 3), Knight Fall and Eden Song (Edinburgh Fringe). She has just completed Doctor’s Orders – a farce.

Curtis Hanson (LA Confidential and Wonder Boys) is to produce The Poetess, based on a factual episode in Sue Lenier’s Cambridge University career.

Kazem Al Saher, the Iraqi singer, composer and poet, dubbed the ‘Emperor of Arab Music’ has commissioned Sue to write the screenplay/libretto for his musical film version of The Epic of Gilgamesh, the fifth king of Uruk.
